I have a feeling that this is the sort of movie that should be seen in the theatres. It was really good. I watched the director's cut and it ranf or 3 hours. Some scenes I could just do without but overall the acting was decent. Not sure if it's something I'd watch over and over.

In Dean's first ever film role, "East of Eden" proves to be a perfect canvas for James Dean to express his talents. I've never been a big fan of Steinback's writing but Dean's portrayal of Cal makes the story incredibly likeable. gGeat cast. Great shots. Great film.
