Saw 2004

Kati’s review:
Saw is an incredible movie. I absolutely love the pure brilliance behind the plot and the deviously clever nature of Jigsaw and what he does. I know a lot of people give these movies a bad rap because they're "gory" and "violent" and "films like that are gross and unnecessarily disturbing"... but clearly none of those folks have seen the first installment because like I said, it's genius. Yes, a bit bloody and a tad bit sick but a great movie nonetheless. The acting is wonderful and I beg anyone with a negative opinion to try again.
The "Saw" movies are generally better than a lot of the "gross and unneccessarily disturbing" movies that came out in the mid-2000s. I'm guessing you've seen all of the sequels?
I completely agree. I've seen all but the most recent... which I haven't heard much about. Which film in the series do you like best?
To be completely honest, they all sort of run together for me. I liked that the second film became more of a police procedural, and I like the fourth because we learn that most of it takes place during the third. Or was that the fifth? See what I mean?
Gotcha! That's why I like the first one so much; it can stand on its own and be wonderful without any predecessors. But then again, I usually tend to develop an intense liking for just the starter film in a series, but doesn't almost everyone?
I usually do too. "Star Wars," "Raiders of the Lost Ark," "The Godfather," "Batman Begins," the first Pirates of the Caribbean, and others of which I'm too tired to pull off the top of my head...all great and could stand alone. There are some series where the sequel outdoes the original, but I totally understand your point!
