It's not that surprising that this marked the beginning of the end of Pauly Shore's mainstream film career, as it was immediately shut later by "Bio-Dome" the very next year.

Timeline 2003
It saddens me that "Timeline" has to be the last Michael Crichton-adapted bestseller brought to film to date before the author's death in 2008, and the penultimate movie that Richard Donner directed.
The sets in 1357 Castlegard look pretty good, and considering there is very little CGI that they used based upon its $80 million budget, that's quite realistic. However, those weren't enough to overcome the huge problems like other later Crichton movies (Congo, The Lost World, Sphere, The 13th Warrior) before that and despite a huge talented cast, neither of them come close to redeeming on what they brought to the table.

Gigli 2003
Martin Brest's career is forever ruined, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez broke up months after it came out, and both Al Pacino and Christopher Walken were apparently dragged against their will to do their one scene each respectively. Thanks Gigli for destroying a career, and for both uniting and derailing a high-profile relationship at the same time.
