I went into this film expecting to hate it, and maybe my judgement was clouded as I was on a flight back from a family holiday, but I found it really enjoyable. As a piece of film it's not going to go down in history, but it's a nice portrayal of mother and son with a few laughs and some nice emotional beats.

I honestly thought this film was going to be more about the making of Psycho, Hitchcock's directing style and the darker side of his personality. So when it turned out too be a rekindled romance between husband and wife, I was left a little disappointed all around.

Tarantino's love for the Western is obvious in the this film, pretty much pulling together everything that makes a perfect Western in one complete, polished package. Yes it is violent, and yes there are a lot of racial slur, but its right for the world and there is a purpose. Brilliant!

I'll open up by saying I'm biased when it comes to the film. Instead of a look into a new world, its a representation of the same journey I've been through. It was tough to get through but for all the right reasons. Their are plently of laughs but admittedly they turn into smiles as the film gets deeper into the drama of the situation. The drama is touching and emotive, never played over the top but just as it would be. I don't know where it falls on the comedy/drama front but its about the best portrayal of cancer I've see .
