@Movie Vigalante, ( answering for Lise here ) I don't remember a statue. South of Wawa is an incredibly sweet movie, I hope you can catch it sometime on one of our networks up here. Where are you located in Canada btw?

Well, Wawa is only about 10 hours away.

Yeah, I love the title of the film. Wawa isn't actually in the film though. One of the characters threatens to leave his job to go to Wawa (the impression is that Wawa is the nearest 'big town'). Theirs is a one main street kind of town. Nice story about your dad. Mine was hunter too until he missed a moose that was 5 feet away from him. He swears it was further away
Movie Vigilante, I'm his biggest fan. Running on Empty is one seriously under-seen film.

Thanks for the info, Lise. That's good to know. Based on that, I think I want to see the movie even more now. In my search, I did actually find a movie that was shot in Wawa. It's called Snow Cake and it sounds pretty good.
I just noticed you have Griff The Invisible on your list. I've had that on my watch list for a little while.
Movie Vigilante, it is a very small film with quirky but lovable characters. We fell in love with this at TIFF.
