A Monster in Paris 2011

Adam Cook’s review:
A Monster in Paris is another forgettable animated film for all the family. After a chemical accident an ordinary flea is turned into a seven foot monster with great musical talent. The obvious reference point is Phantom of the Opera but the film is far too aimless to work effectively for either a young or old audience.
The animation is fluid and art direction is quite attractive but the story struggles to know where it is really going with it being more a collection of sublots rather than one story that drives the film forward. As a comedy it regularly falls flat, as an adventure it is rarely exciting and as a musical the songs are far from memorable. There are fleeting moments of promise but they are far too infrequent to make the film worthy of your time.
