The Ranch 2004

Adam Cook’s review:
The Ranch started life as a failed pilot for Showtime and is centred on a Nevada brothel and the women that work there. The group of girls suffer the usual problems in and out of the workplace which might have been the basis for a throwaway weekly show but there isn’t enough substance for a feature film. Instead it is a film that suffers from problems inherent in its origins; namely it doesn’t have big enough storylines for the women and they are poorly resolved or not at all.
There is plenty of tits and ass on display but it is far from a titillating experience, in fact its utter blandness makes it surprisingly seedy and depressing. It is flatly directed with weak characterisation and only passable performances. One for randy teens that have had their internet connection blocked only.
