Help! What's The Name of That Film?

With such knowledgeable folk on the site I thought a list topic helping others remember the names of long forgotten films might be of some use.

If you are trying to remember a name of a film you watched 40 years ago or only 40 minutes ago then ask in here and let the Letterboxd community help you.

If somebody does solve your problem can you please confirm they have the correct film so I can add it to the list.

  • Kingsley's hair almost makes it worth a (second) watch.

  • with Ben Kingsley being in The Dictator i reckon he misses the days he was in A Sound of Thunder!! I hope he acts like Alan Rickmans character in Galaxy Quest does behind the scenes :)

  • this is a long shot. saw a dubbed european (i think) movie as a kid about an estranged brother and sister. i hazily remember something about a crashed glider in the wilderness. what i do clearly remember is that when the brother is discovered he has been adopted by a king or a wizard. now with the power to telekinetically attract gold, he for some reason drowns himself in a mass of it in grief. any ideas?

  • i'm having some trouble remembering the title of a movie i watched that came out maybe in 2008-2010. it was about a grandfather who tried to keep in touch with his family, but his children and grandchildren didn't want to talk to him because they were busy with their lives (or something), and he was very sad, and the movie in general was quite depressing and made me cry a lot. :c it seemed to be out in most theaters during its release, so i don't think it's an unpopular film.

  • Is it Everybody's Fine with Robery De Niro

  • oh, yeah that's right. thank you very much! (:

  • Hey there. I watched a film about 6 to 8 years ago, and Well, it starts with this typical American family who have to drive to the Grandmothers house for Thanksgiving, and the father decides to save himself the long drive and takes the shortcut instead. The shortcut takes them on this super long stretch of road that isn't even on the map.

I can't remember if the car breaks down or something, but they end up getting out of the car and start looking around and gradually, they begin getting gravely injured, before a black cab comes and stops in the middle of the road and ends up with taking them away one by one. I don't know if thats of any help, but theres also a scene where the boy gets lower lip ripped off by some dead girl.

It would be much appreciate if you could help me identify it. Thanks.

  • Dead end. With Ray Wise

  • Thank you very much, man.

    "A film I saw in the 90s.

A man for some reason (maybe because it's interesting) watches a woman with binoculars from another building far away. I remember seeing a lot of nighttime. But something happens and the man sees an intruder or something. The man also might have approached the woman at some point which makes the intruder scene much more exciting.

I have myself searched for this and came up with 2 movies, but I don't have access to them so I won't be able to verify. Just in case I'll put the titles here as well:
    Someone to Watch Over Me
    Body Double

From IMDb's plot description I'd say the latter, but I'm hoping for your help. If someone has seen them, let me know. Or if it might be something else."

Just saw Body Double. It's the right movie. And what a fucking movie! Loved it and enjoyed the homage to Rear Window and Vertigo.

Incredible how the mind works. I must have been less than 10 years old when I first saw this and I vividly remembered key scenes. Now I'm 24 and because of the vast time between these two watches, I feel like I've experienced something once-in-a-lifetime thing. I'm on cloud nine right now.
