Recommend Me a Horror Film
Another recommendation list but this one is specifically for horror. I've watched a fair amount of horror films from all countries and all decades so I apologise if this list ends up with me just saying "seen it, seen it" etc. However, there are many people here with a far greater knowledge of the genre than I so I'm sure there are some gems I am missing (horror from South America is a particular blind spot of mine).
Anyway, here is my 100 Favourite Horror Films to give you an idea about taste and what I have seen.
Recommend away.
I've seen and liked both In a Glass Cage (as much as you can like a film as unrelentingly grim and disturbing as it is) and The Psychic but not Sole Survivor. It sounds intriguing.
Inside, Frailty, Orphan, and The Devil's Backbone if you haven't seen them, and if they haven't been recommended already.
I've seen all those I'm afraid but two are excellent.
Oh well I tried.
Well I really do like Frailty and The Devil's Backbone so they were good suggestions.
Seeing as how both Deep Red and Suspiria are on your Top 100 Horror Films list, I assume you've seen more of Argento's work? The Bird with the Crystal Plumage, Tenebrae, Inferno, and Phenomena?
Also, have you seen Pupi Avati's Zeder?
Yep, seen and liked all of those, including Zeder. The only Argento I haven't seen is Giallo and I'm reluctant to watch it.
No mention of Martyrs on here? Now that's a challenging film. I expect you've seen it. For werewolf whodunnit fun, you could try The Beast Must Die. Not essential, but its quirks are amusing.
Unfortunately I've seen both of those. Regarding Martyrs: I really don't get on with any of the current wave of French new wave horror films. They all bore me rigid.
That's a shame. I like most of the ones I've seen.
