The Visitors 1993 ★★

Reviewed Nov 14, 2011

This is Monty Python meets Basil Fawlty meets the French. I normally have a weakness for French comedy (the first things checked out in Festival programs) and I've loved Jean Reno in other things but it turns out he's heaps cooler as Leon than as Godefroy, a time traveling 11th century nobleman. Fancy that.

There's too much arm flapping and general hysteria for me to enjoy this movie, although in retrospect there are some classic lines that you will find yourself using ("okayyyyy"), and laughing about, whilst others look blankly at you. Perhaps this does make it a successful comedy?

"Limp scrotum!"
