Since its release, Catfish has been surrounded by mystery by the films fans. Is the documentary, just that, a documentary, albeit one where its film-makers got extremely lucky, or was the whole thing false? Well frankly, either way, Catfish is an astounding piece of film. Directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman follow their friend as he embarks on a over-the-internet relationship. They met on facebook, and have fallen in love. Everything seems hunky dory, however as time passes by, and the relationship ges deeper, questions get thrown in the air. The film-makers decide to follow their friend as he travels cross country to meet his new cyber girlfriend, but events take a shocking twist. The film remains one of the best documentaries for shock value and hold-your-breathe tension, and the ending will leave you questioning identity and the social media boom of the past few years.
