Luke Parry’s review:
In 1999 The Sixth Sense shocked the world and became a phenomenon. It was sharp and clever, and of course had that deliciously mind bending ending. Although the film is still an outstanding debut from M. Night Shyamalan, it hasn't stood the tests of time. Of course, to be fair, what film centered on a plot twist does? When you know whats going to happen, nothing can shock you. Accept, a good film can. The Sixth Sense, tries to be a good film, infact, in its performances (Toni Collete i'm looking at you!) and direction it nearly is, but unfortunitely that just doesn't cut the cake anymore. In 1999, The Sixth Sense was a good film, it was a phenomenon. Today, even if watched without knowledge of the ending, audiences are just too smart and savvy to fall for the films tricks.
