  • The Dark Knight Rises 2012

    ★★★★★ Watched 20 Jul, 2012

Ok, I could waste your time and nit-pick, transcend into a rant about why its a good film, and why its not. Weigh up the odds and evens, but i'm not going to. Chances are you've already booked your tickets, or are planning on going within the next week or so. Film's devide opinion. We each have our own thoughts and feelings, and moods toward films. The Dark Knight Rises is a very, very smart, thrilling, enjoyable and emotional film. It is, in this reviewer's opinion, second to none, and is a truly brilliant end, to a truly brilliant trilogy.

  • Prometheus 2012

    ★★ Watched 06 Jun, 2012

Ok. First and foremost: Prometheus? Not a prequel to Alien. Well, it is, but, it isn't. Those phrases you've heard being battered around that describe it more as 'in the same universe' or 'sharing the same DNA' are actually quite accurate, but I digest... Prometheus very much is a film within its own right. It has its own narrative to explore, its own characters to dissect, and that is where Prometheus has its major problems. We all get the jist…

  • Dark Shadows 2012

    ★★★★★ Watched 17 May, 2012

When I was a young boy I, like many others, went to see Star Wars Episode 1 The Phantom Menace. I left that cinema with one sure thought: One day, I would be Obi Wan Kenobi. I completely loved the film (hey! Don't judge me, I was 9, and the pretty light sabres and Jedi mind tricks toyed with my mind.) I spent a lot of my childhood like this. Falling in love with films and their characters. There were…

  • The Dictator 2012

    ★½ Watched 16 May, 2012

The Dictator tries to be funny, it tries to be shocking, and it tries to have some assemblance of a plot. However it never attains any of the above. Just to be clear: this is no Borat. Borat struggled to create a narrative, but its comedy, and shock factor were its biggest attributes, and the film worked really well. The Dictator tries to take everything that made Borat so popular and cram it into a scripted film. It doesn't work.…

  • American Reunion 2012

    ★★★★ Watched 02 May, 2012

It's simple. Either you enjoy American Pie, or you don't. It's coming of age story isn't exactly an original concept, but, the film is funny. Very funny. The characters are lovable, and it is genuinely a good film. 13 years later and American Pie: Reunion is here, and, it was inevetable, right? The good news is, everyone's back (faces that haven't been seen since the second installment all make appearances). The bad news? Its been 13 years. Time has clearly…

  • The Avengers 2012

    ★★★ Watched 14 May, 2012

The film is a geek's wet dream, but with a slow and shakey start The Avengers takes far too long to build momentum. It is a difficult concept: wrapping together three other franchise's into one, and, for most of the film your served with semi sequels, not a new film entirely. When the third act does come in to play, the film does actually begin to build, and become something brilliant. The action and set pieces are second to none,…

  • Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows 2011

    ★★★★ Watched 15 May, 2012

The plot is over complicated. Dialogue, confusing, yet you have so much fun watching it you won't really care. Downey Jr. Shines in every scene, and its performances like this that proove him to be one of Hollywood's finest leading actors.

  • The Cabin in the Woods 2012

    ★★★★★ Watched 13 Apr, 2012

Cabin in the Woods is a complete breath of fresh air. Without spoiling any plot details, it is without a doubt an insane rollercoaster ride into the world of horror. The film takes every stereotype known to the genre, and tips it on its head pumping new ideas into an old and waring narrative. Packed with nods and homages, the film is a horror fans wet dream. Once over, its actually scary, hitting the mark with jumps and chills, and…

  • The Hunger Games 2012

    ★★★★ Watched 08 Apr, 2012

The Hunger Games has been a long time coming. The plot is a frenzied attack on today's society, and what an attack it is. Set in the near future where the world has been ruined by war and natural disasters, the country of Panem (formally North America), divided into 12 districts surrounding the capitol, holds a yearly event known as the Hunger Games. 12 boys and 12 girls (each plucked from a disrict) are forced to appear in the live…

  • Battleship 2012

    Watched 11 Apr, 2012 4

Bad direction, awful acting and a dire script, Battleship is meant for one thing only, to cash in on the success of Hasbro's other franchise to film hopper, Transformers. Sure, if you enjoy explosions, bad dialogue ("they're not gonna' sink this Battleship..."), and Rihanna (who doesn't?!) this could of been somewhat entertaining, however as it stands not even Liam Neeson (playing the same character he portrays in every other film he's been in) could save this film. Battleship is one of the funniest films released in a while accept there's no comedy in it, the film is just a joke in itself.

  • We Bought a Zoo 2011

    Watched 04 Apr, 2012

Man buys zoo. Gets girl. Pretty much sums up that two hours.

  • The Last Exorcism 2010

    ★★★ Watched 02 Apr, 2012

We all know the story by now. A teenage girl who's going through the ringer (a missing parent, puberty, generally being a woman in a mans world) gets taken over by a demonic force. Or so she says. The only option, obviously, is to call on a church leader (a priest/reverand/pastor) to come over and exorcise the demon out of the girl (by means of a bible and holy water, not by forcing her down to the local gym). The…
