  • Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo 1999

    Rewatched 16 Mar, 2014

    Look, I know, I know.

However, this film makes me laugh, and as a comedy, really that's all it's meant to do. And, the lines that come out of this film are great. The off camera calls about the giantess, "That's a huuuge bitch", (shout out to the court bailiff) taking the woman with tourettes to the baseball game and Eddie Griffin as the male madam "you the best he-bitch in my man stable." I'm sold.

    So yeah, I like it.

  • Any Questions for Ben? 2012

    Watched 11 Feb, 2012

This film is great. Something I will comment on was the share number of Melbourne CBD/environs aerial shots used in scene transitions, I found these a little over the top, and I'd love to know if this was 1) I'm not used to seeing the city I live in show up in films (Holla Christchurch), 2) There were just a lot of these shots, 3) People who live in LA hate this or 4) if it was just me. Bonus points for an excellently comic "deleted" scene that runs alongside the credit.

  • Training Day 2001

    Rewatched 14 Feb, 2012

More than ten years after this film was released it stands up well (with only the odd pre iPhone Nokias dragging us back to 2001). Shout outs to Kiwi Cliff Curtis playing one of the Mexican gangstas. Denzel's character and portrayal is excellent.

  • The Way Back 2010

Didn't find this engaging, though Ed Harris can't help but be great. They walk across the Gobi desert! But I didn't really care. Farrell's character (and his decision) was something I did care about.
