Seemed such a shame to me (and something that had prejudiced me against this film) that despite this being an English book and could have had a great cast it instead opted for the 'English people can only play baddies' system. It was even set in England, but has American voiced animals, makes no sense to me.
I could have got over the major plot change (from the original) if it wasn't for the previously mentioned reasons and the fact that this film seemed to drag despite being relatively short.
I'm normally a fan of the Wes Anderson style quirkiness but it just didn't seem to work with puppets that couldn't display much emotion (from their faces) that I think is normally relied upon (and needed) in a Wes Anderson film.
There were moments that were genuinely funny and clever, but they were few and far between.
