    Women's Prison 2002

    ★★★★ Added

"Women’s Prison is a bold and damning metaphor describing the oppression of women in post revolutionary Iran that delivers its message in an incisive and richly engaging manner."

  • (Sex) Appeal

    (Sex) Appeal 2014

    ★★★★ Added

"(Sex) Appeal is a film about truth and consequences, responsibility and loyalty, singular and group suffering. This is not a film with a happy or feel good ending even though the conclusion is resolute and it’s many messages and confrontational take on the themes raised hit hard thanks to the committed performances of the cast. • The Boy

    The Boy 2014

    ★★★½ Added

Thought you might appreciate a review in English! ;-)

"El Niño is everything an action thriller should be – glossy, high octane, sexy and engaging. However it is let down by Monzón not exerting his own style in his direction and the need to excise some fat. Quibbles aside however this film easily stands up against any of Hollywood’s output in this area. "

  • Compassion

    Compassion 2014

    ★★★½ Added

"For a debut effort Compassion actually has a lot going for it and is a decent watch. Shin Sung-sub has a good idea of how to manipulate the audience’s emotions on this prevalent subject. "

  • In My End Is My Beginning

In My End Is My Beginning 2009

    ★★★ Added

"Its brief run time, appealing leads and quirky story make this a perfectly acceptable tale of burgeoning sexual frisson but anyone expecting something substantially raunchier will be disappointed. "

  • The Guitar Mongoloid

    The Guitar Mongoloid 2004

    ★★★ Added

"The Guitar Mongoloid is able to achieve that rare distinction of being able to strike a chord without bring deliberately didactic and captivating without showing or doing anything spectacular outside of depicting and reflecting on modern life without any filters. I’m sure many people won’t get it or enjoy or find anything to engage them which is completely understandable but if you can get into it, this is a sublimely worthwhile experiment to give at least one viewing. • An Ethics Lesson

    An Ethics Lesson 2013

    ★★★ Added

"The objective however for An Ethics Lesson was to pour scorn on today’s selfish society and Park does just that with a clever, unflinchingly savage and twisting story that possesses a few rookies kinks which I am sure he can iron out for future projects. A solid and enjoyable debut nonetheless."

  • The Second Coming

    The Second Coming 2014

    ★★★ Added

"In an overcrowded market The Second Coming might have some trouble in standing out from the rest but once it gets going this is a perfectly acceptable slice of Hong Kong horror which delivers a nasty enough short sharp shock!"

  • There is Light

    There is Light 2013

    ★★★ Added

"There Is Light is a film about educating people about the world of the disabled and, by association, the escort industry while (forgive the pun) shining a positive light on them all. It’s low budget indie credentials means a smaller audience reach but for its boldness and honourable intentions alone, it is worth 68 minutes of your time."

"one of the most honest and refreshing looks at lesbianism in Japan that eschews the usual exploitation and titillation to great benefit for the film and the audience. "

  • Blowfish

    Blowfish 2011

    ★★★★ Added

"The most remarkable thing about Blowfish is how it feels less a Taiwanese film and more like a Japanese drama, with its tepid pace, sparse dialogue, wistful musical soundtrack and heavy use of symbolism and ambiguity. So, if you’re expecting the usual fast paced affair with machine gun delivery of the dialogue then a (nice) surprise awaits."

  • Festival

    Festival 2010

    ★★★ Added

"Foxy Festival is an occasionally crude but good hearted and astute look at a taboo and often maligned subject that manages to make fun out of it rather than of it. The cast willingly allow themselves to be exposed in the name of entertainment and while not a ground breaker per se it is refreshing to be reminded about the humanity behind sexuality rather than using it for lewd titillation purposes."
