Marion’s review published on Letterboxd:
I am angry at this movie. Every time I watch it.
The Goblet of Fire is not my favourite book of the series, I'll give you that (which seems to be a very unpopular opinion), but I think some of the elements of this movie are very badly dealt with.
I don't know who to blame; the editor, the director, or the screenwriter?
I think I'll give the screenwriter a break on this one. And the editor might have made some bad choices (some shots are cut very abruptly, going from a wide shot to a close-up for no reason whatsoever), but when it comes to directing actors, I think I should turn to Mike Newell.
If you are a fan of the series, then you know that the Dumbledore from this film is widely unpopular to say the least. Dumbledore is a very calm, quiet, yet charismatic character. Richard Harris did a fantastic job of portraying this. Here, we have a Dumbledore that jumps everywhere, speaks very loudly (shouts even), shakes Harry by the shoulders... Things that book!Dumbledore would NEVER do.
The transition between Richard Harris and Michael Gambon was rather well done in the third movie, but here it feels like the character is very badly handled and doesn't respect who he is. I guess they just wanted a "dynamic" movie, characters included.
And to my mind, the same goes for Voldemort. The guys is barely out of his cauldron and back in his body, that he is jumping around the graveyard like a bunny. Seriously?
Angry, I tell you.
