An amazing recreation of mid-70s atmosphere helps to make this one of the better films of last year. I'm not familiar with the original mini series or the source novel, and so went into this cold. The scripting is fantastic, giving the cast (and boy, what a cast!) a chance to shine. Gary Oldman delivers the stand out performance, I am utterly convinced that he really is Georg Smilie, and not an actor!

Is it confusing? I didn't really think so, but definitely a film to devote complete attention too, to make sure that you see every little nuance in the performances and are able to put everything in the right time order in your head.

Thoroughly recommended. Ad the blu ray presentation is great as well, excellent amount of film grain thorough I thought.
