Did an amazing job of portraying the highs and lows of experiences on screen - tremendously visceral at times (admission: I cringed and closed my eyes during the 'nerve' scene.)
Made me want to go out into the desert and find a slot canyon swimming hole.
Bit boring and hokey in parts.

I cried a little. Also enjoyed the Seattle (Vancouver) scenery and the story as a whole. Well done.

Jack's finest role as he addresses the blackness that lives within us all.

  • Akira 1988

Not as rousing as the manga but still an excellent genre-defining film.

I never turn off movies partway through... like, ever. I fast-forwarded through most of this and then turned it off early. Utterly shite. Even the CG - which I had been promised was decent - was shit.

  • Breaking Away 1979

Coming of age and a bike.

  • Cedar Rapids 2011

Seriously? Flat, boring, formulaic shite where there was so much potential.
Expected much more given some of the 'wild and crazy' times I've had at conferences. Writers should have consulted me first.

  • Conan the Barbarian 2011

Like an episode of Xena: Warrior Princess with more blood. Utterly laughable production values and storyline.

Avoids one-star rating because of the opening scene wherein a quietly floating fetus' happy world is interrupted by a belly-plunging sword.

A friend of mine visited me having ridden his bicycle (solo) down the west coast of America. I asked him if he had ever seen this film and he said, "No. Why?" I just laughed.
