The original was far superior. Not only is this one extremely cliched but it lacks the charm which made the first movie so successful. It was also very odd seeing Beecher from Oz pop up in this.

Sure there's absolutely no substance (or moral or character development) here but I was entertained from start to finish. Definitely not for anyone over 25. For better or for worse this movie captures the zeitgeist of modern youth culture.

I've been looking forward to seeing this movie and thought I would like it but there was just something about it I couldn't get into. The characters felt shallow and the story frankly bored me. I much preferred the remake of True Grit. I really like Eastwood in Gran Torino and Dirty Harry. All the performances in this film were good and it looked nice but nothing else resonated with me. I wish I knew why I don't love it as much as everyone else seems to.

I was pleasantly surprised to find it opened with one of Coolduder's youtube videos but unfortunately that's where the surprises stopped. This movie got off to a slower start than the first and wasn't as original as that one either. It seemed to be trying to comment on the movie industry or the horror genre but never actually said anything. The characters were also bland and the effects silly at times. It was an interesting effort but didn't come close to the first movie.
