Matthew Buchanan’s review:
Christopher Nolan’s taut thriller about unemployment and voyeurism established his affection for messing with the chronology of events so as to disorient his audience, and was the genesis of what have become some of his calling-card themes (one of the chief protagonists here is a thief called “Cobb”). Unlike some of his later films, Following remains internally consistent and relies on nothing more than good storytelling to deliver its knockout blow. An engrossing debut.
