Matthew Buchanan’s review:
There’s a temptation to fall back on imitation in roles like this, and for it not to work out, but not here: Williams is too good, too mischievous, too poised. Squint in the wider shots, and it’s impossible for it not to be Marilyn right there, strutting and posing, concealing her many contradictions. Pity the same can’t be said for the rest of the film, a tepid depiction of Monroe’s brief encounter with a young assistant director that can’t get itself far enough away from the tantalising intersection of bashful and bombshell.
