The Blues Brothers 1980
Best known for the music and the car crashes, i love it for these things but also those sly little comic moments and the laugh out loud surreal moments. From the 'Penguin' gliding backwards like a horror movie staple to the sly look the brothers give one another as their car glides over a police car, as for the surrealness, my personal favourite is the SWAT team that can't move without an accompanying Hut Hut Hut Hut Hut Hut Hut. A class act.

The Muppets 2011
Dark and gritty are all very well. Challenging and intellectual both have their place. But sometimes I want a song and I want that song sung by chickens. Such are the joys of The Muppets (not the Muppet Movie).
Confronting the question of whether the Muppets are still relevant in the modern world we find that through song and dance that yes, yes they are. The celebrity cameos do not detract from the Muppets been the true starts of the…

Trainspotting 1996
Hard to believe this is now 17 years old and it still feels as fresh as when it was released and became a phenomenon.
The excellent cast work beautifully together to create a crowd of ill gotten, unlikeable characters that still manage to charm.
I still don't fancy taking drugs though.

Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory 1971
Way better than the remake. For maximum enjoyment watch with a 3 and a 6 year old.
-
Dracula 1931
A Black & White classic that started my love of the Universal Monster cycle of films.
Great visuals and Lugosis eery screen presence make this a landmark to film to be enjoyed. However the ending which seems to come a sudden jolt always felt a little disappointing to me. Watch this and follow up with Hammer Horrors Dracula and appreciate the difference in tastes from the 30s to the 70s

Hot Tub Time Machine 2010
Right full disclosure, this came on the telly. I had no intention of watching the whole thing and I was pretty sure it would fall firmly in the 'm'eh' category.
And so it was with some surprise that I found myself thoroughly enjoying it and giving it some proper laughs. Don't get me wrong there are definite faults with this one, a strong dash of misogyny, plot holes bigger than a time vortex and Chevy Chase.
The characters are shallow…

Terror of Mechagodzilla 1975
My memory has been kinder to this film than time has.
Still enjoyable seen as I like this kind of thing.
-
Dangerous Liaisons 1988
Not my usual fare but sometime I've got to let the missus choose one.
Entertaining enough with some wicked humour throughout and let's not forget a young Keanu Reeves doing an early Theodore 'Ted' Logan in period costume. If that's not enough it does have boobies in it as well.

Quantum of Solace 2008
Starts big and finishes with a whimper.
This one ticks most of the required Bond boxes, but sadly lacks a strong villain. This leaves Bond with very little to push against and leaves the film a little adrift.
But even an average Bond film is still worth the watch.

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance 2011
Is it the worst film ever? No.
Is it the best film ever? Definitely No.
Is it a passable way to spend some time with a beer in one hand whilst your mind is on something else? Yes. -
The Muppets Take Manhattan 1984
Muppets yayyyyy

Wreck-It Ralph 2012
It seems like a lot of folks at saying 'ach it's alright not great but.' To which I say, 1) sort your grammar out and 2) don't be daft this film is bloody marvellous.
I know animations are supposed to have an appeal to adults as well as children these days and folks seem top think that this is lacking in wreck-it. Don't get it myself I mean one character has gaming's darkest back story for goodness sake!
The animation…
