There’s only one word that can describe what CLOUD ATLAS is. That word is CRAZY. With a budget of 102 million dollars, this is the most epic indie film that has ever been produced. But the film never feels too arthouse. And at the same time, it never feels like a blockbuster either. We’d like to believe that action figures can inspire a great movie. And certainly with the box office success (if not its quality) of the TRANSFORMERS franchise, it might still happen. But when the wish to promote toy lines is bigger than the will to create a blockbuster that’s more than just explosions, the result is an entirely forgettable action film.

This is Joe Cornish's picture debut and, wow, it does not disappoint at all. As soon as I finished watching the movie, I dubbed it as "the grown-up version of Super 8".
