Stuart Barr’s review:
Very unsure about this rating, it may go up.
This is a very talky film that boils the global financial crisis down to one trader's quest to cross Manhattan in a stretch limo looking for a haircut. Obviously complications ensue.
Pattison is excellent, as is the starry supporting cast all giving stylised non naturalistic performances. There is one scene that is outrageously kinky. There are echoes of Crash and Videodrome, but the film is nowhere near as startling as those masterpieces. In fact my initial feeling is that this is not as good as the underrated A Dangerous Method, but I strongly suspect I shall be in a minority of Cronenberg fans on that.
I do want to see it again, it is quite likely that my opinion will change.
Phew, is that enough fence sitting ;)
