Demons 2 1986

Vastly inferior sequel.

My review of the Arrow Blu Ray release of Demons 1 and 2 is on ScreenJabber bit.ly/IMSZHN

  • One star eh? I agree it's not up there with the first but it's got a idiotic, trashy 80s vibe I quite enjoy.

  • There's a review to come but I basically hated it. Id never seen it before and it's hard to believe Bava didn't have Argento holding a gun to his head, has "contractual obligation" written all over it. Also it has The Smiths on the soundtrack

  • It would make a great episode of MST3K though. Especially liked the bit where someone turns off a stereo with a light switch

  • I slightly preferred it to the original. It was just as insane and had a really uncomfortable mix of laughs and serious moments. The ending is absolutely nuts, too.

By the way, the guy who played Tony and Hank in the two films respectively, Bobby Rhodes, occasionally posts on the IMDB messageboards for the films and has his own YouTube channel with interviews about his career and convention appearances and stuff like that.

  • Interesting - I've found a review I wrote of Demons 2 a decade or so ago, and I'm far less kind on it than my memory serves. So I guess this is my true opinion:

  • The Smiths dance party is hilarious. I don't think that's the music they were hearing when they filmed that.

  • I love Demons 2. Granted it doesn't have the berserk charm of the original but it does have a character of its own.

  • I agree with Dan's review ;)

  • We watched this a couple of days ago and I really enjoyed it, to be honest, but I'm a sucker for those 80s-tastic outfits and glorious period set designs. Also, any gym where the instructor touts a shotgun is my kinda place!
