Prometheus 2012
Rewatch, liked it a bit more the second time. Look, it's a mess narratively, it doesn't make any sense, some of the performances are poor, but it looks amazing. Not a good film, a terrible alien film, but a triumph of production design.

The Yellow Sea 2011
Holy cow, I'm not sure I've ever seen a film that combines gritty social realism and visceral bloody action like The Yellow Sea. Amazing.

The Last Stand 2013
After so many years off the screen it's a shock to be reminded of just what a bad actor Arnie is. The Last Stand Is a curious vehicle for Arnholdt's return, a B action picture of the sort Eastwood used to knock off in he seventies between more substantial projects (think The Gauntlet). For a star of Arnie's (former) stature it feels a bit low key.
None of which would matter were the film successful, but the story is shambolic,…

Star Trek Into Darkness 2013
Fast paced, spectacular, but also kinda dumb. The first half is terrific, but then the plot twists kick in in a way that will have anyone with more than a passing knowledge of Trek knowing exactly where things are going. Fun, but deeply flawed.

Dead Mine 2013
Steven Shiel's follow up to his excellent debut Mum & Dad has been a long time coming, Dead Mine is a far more generic piece of work. The clearly talented director does his best with a standard men in a bunker movie, and this is better characterised and shot than most. However it is ultimately hampered by what looks like a lack of budget and a very unsatisfying ending.

Vehicle 19 2013
A thriller with four flat tyres.

The Collection 2012
I quite enjoyed The Collector, a good nuts and bolts horror flick. Was hoping for more of the same from this sequel, but sadly it's an unscary, sadistic, overblown torture porn that feels very dated.

Killing Them Softly 2012
Really angry and cynical crime film. IMO immensely superior to Place Beyond The Pines. A brilliant cast get to deliver some of the most uncomfortably mysogynist dialogue I've ever heard.

Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope 1977
Blu ray version slightly marred by the addition of brutally dated looking CGI aliens

No One Lives 2013
A super tight 86 minutes of exploitation mayhem.
