I had heard good things about Goon, but I don't remember reading about how serious it would get at parts. It's definitely not a straight-up comedy, choosing instead to take its story seriously and use humor sparingly. Sean William Scott is actually pretty good in this and though his role doesn't require great acting, he plays the character really well.

I never thought I'd say that about Sean William Scott.
