Liked this much better than I thought I would. And I'll echo what other people are saying about it: totally a Terrence Malick-directed Girls Gone Wild video.

Mercedes McCambridge with another over-the-top, crazed, obsessive, subliminally butch lesbian character. I can't get enough of her! The scene in the kitchen when she rolls a cigarette with one hand = amazing. Ruth Roman basically has zero street smarts and will seemingly trust ANYONE, but then there wouldn't be a film if she had. I think I was expecting more; this ended up just being okay.

I watched this to indulge in my recent Glenn Ford phase. Too bad this movie was made in the 40's because this has 80's "erotic thriller" written all over it.
