List by Adrian Alexander
Don't Speak
Sometimes every word is one too much: Films with impressive non-verbal scenes. Rules: Actors must be in the frame, acting. No explosions, no animation (Rotoscope is okay).
(Switch to list view for a short description of the respective scene.)
Oh, my favourite topic! I adore non-verbal scenes. Here are my faves.
Rififi: the practice run with the safe and the heist itself.
3-iron, too many to list, but makes up 1/2 the film I would say, if not more.
The following just have the one actor so there is really no need to talk, but they are fantastic scenes.
There Will be Blood, first 20 minutes or so.
Wall-E, opening sequence (might not meet your criteria of actors, but it is such a fantastic 20 minutes it must me mentioned).
Le Samourai, opening sequence.
Awesome suggestions! 3-Iron is in! Wall-E I'd like to exclude as I was going more for impressive acting performances. I'll enhance the rules accordingly. :-)
I've heard a lot about Rififi - will be added as soon as I get around to watching it. Same goes for Le Samourai. There Will Be Blood: In!
I know it's mainstream but what about 2001: A Space Odyssey?
this would be my first thought regarding this topic.
Look again, Mr Lincus! It's already on the list. But you're right, I could just as well call it the "Kubrick List". :-) In fact, I'm going to add some now.
Was it on the list before i wrote the comment... ?
yup.
okay... less mushrooms before commenting...
proposal for this great list ... Schultze gets the blues
absolutely! do you have a particular scene in mind?
too long ago that if seen this movie... will be added to the watsch list ;-)
