Iron Man 3 2013
The first Iron Man is my favourite superhero origins film. It was my favourite Marvel film up until this one. Not only is Iron Man 3 better than the first (do we even need to mention the second?), it's also better than The Avengers. Mostly because Wheddon is an over-priveleged geek hack whereas Black is one of the best screenwriters of all time. He's also a cracking director, showing a great flair here for action set pieces. Mulholland Drive 2001
I saw this by myself in an empty cinema. During the Silencio scene I had a very odd moment, it was almost like synesthesia. As the two women sit alone in the venue and Lynch weaves his magic in that scene I felt like I was in the film, watching from the back corner of Club Silencio as the drama unfolded in front of me. A very special cinema moment for me and one I will never forget.
