    Honey, I Shrunk the Kids

    ★★★½

Undemanding but very enjoyable Disney family fare which gets most things right from the not-too-irritating child characters to some quality Rick Moranis comedy moments. Sure, the visual effects are in places are pretty ropey , but a re-watch some 17 years after I saw it at the cinema didn't do much to dent my childhood memories of how much I enjoyed it. What I did not know until the opening credits rolled was that the original story was by horror stalwarts Stuart Gordon and Brian Yuzna!

    Ratatouille

    ★★★★

Whenever I watch Ratatouille I think it's my favourite Pixar film until I watch one of several other Pixar films and change my mind. Damn, Pixar are good.

Depending on which of the two types of martial arts movie plot you prefer (fighting your way through a tournament to avenge the death/injury of your friend/relative or learning a new martial arts technique from an old master to avenge the death/injury of your friend/relative) then either this or Kickboxer is Van Damme's best film. Although he should have won two best actor Oscars for Double Impact, obviously.

I have a dog. He loves going for walks - it's his favourite thing to do. So if I ever find myself on a lovely country stroll without the dog, I feel guilt and shame. That guilt and shame is the same as I felt when I enjoyed the Dawn of the Dead remake. OH GOD I'M SORRY GEORGE.
