  • Confessions of a Dangerous Mind 2002

    ★★½ Watched 21 Apr, 2014 2

Perhaps it helps to have some knowledge of the subject matter before viewing, but 60s US game shows are not something I know a great deal about. That, combined with a dearth of likeable characters made Confessions of a Dangerous Mind an unengaging watch.

  • 101 Dalmatians 1996

    ★★½ Rewatched 23 Mar, 2014

An entertaining enough life action version of the classic novel and Disney cartoon. Jeff Daniels and, particularly, Joely Richardson are suitably insipid, Mark Williams and Hugh Laurie do a fine job as bungling henchmen and inevitably Glenn Close absolutely steals the show as Cruella DeVil.

The animals are the real stars of course, although the good folk at Disney clearly need a lesson on Britain's indigenous wildlife. Chipmunks? A skunk? Really??

Basically, the second half of the film is Home…

Depending on which of the two types of martial arts movie plot you prefer (fighting your way through a tournament to avenge the death/injury of your friend/relative or learning a new martial arts technique from an old master to avenge the death/injury of your friend/relative) then either this or Kickboxer is Van Damme's best film. Although he should have won two best actor Oscars for Double Impact, obviously.

  • Dawn of the Dead 2004

    ★★★½ Watched 13 Apr, 2012

I have a dog. He loves going for walks - it's his favourite thing to do. So if I ever find myself on a lovely country stroll without the dog, I feel guilt and shame. That guilt and shame is the same as I felt when I enjoyed the Dawn of the Dead remake. OH GOD I'M SORRY GEORGE.
