Letterboxd — Your life in film

Until you watch this, you may not believe that a horror movie can also be a moving, sweet family drama.

Everyone who said this film was hilarious and awesome was right. Not too many scares, more like "haha, that guy just DIED!"

One of my favorite troll hunting movies, ever.

One of my favorite alien invasion movies, ever.

Great horror movie references, excellent animation, plenty of giggles, all almost enough to make me forget this is a movie about a dude telling a lady how she really feels and then mansplaining away her problems.

If the story wasn't terribly original, I loved the setting, the characters, and the glimpse of life in Jakarta (assuming not everyone is battling human traffickers on the streets everyday). Also, great, kinetic, almost unbelievable fight scenes.

An almost perfect mash-up of dark comedy and romantic comedy. You'll spend the first half wondering where this horrible movie is going and the second half wondering how more perfect this movie could be.

I enjoyed that it wasn't so much of a twist as a gradual revealing, with copious amounts of blood and gore. And humor.

Fukunaga, the director, seemed to really understand that there is an underlying horror story to Jane Eyre.

Even knowing the plot upside-down and inside-out, there were times when I worried (in a good way) that just maybe Bertha was gonna jump out and start murdering some governesses, Freddie Kruger style.

So intense, I actually covered my eyes with my hands.

This movie was non-stop awesome fun until the last 5-10 minutes. That was anti-climatic, but still sort-of fun.

If it's a friday night after a long week and you don't want to be particularly moved, but you wouldn't mind a few laughs and a flat romance, this is an adequate choice.
