Weird and flat film. I hated Michelle Williams' character who appears to mentally be about 12, has a terrible fashion sense and was just a strange creature who I didn't care about or understand. She had no chemistry with the love interest and he was just kind of creepy and gross. There were some ok moments but I found the film ugly and off-putting overall and I don't think that's what it was going for.

American Fiction 2023
Good performances, likable characters, made me laugh a few times and I love Jeffrey Wright but this just didn't come together for me. The pacing and attention between a family drama and a satire about the publishing industry don't really work and while I did like both elements I was more interested in the publishing stuff and it didn't do enough with it.
My boyfriend loved this and is annoyed I won't rate it higher than a 6.

The Mother and the Whore 1973
Consists of Alexandre dribbling nonsense, then Veronika interrupting to talk about how much she loves having sex. Then Alexandre dribbles some more nonsense, and then Veronika interrupts to to talk about how much she loves sex. This continues for almost 4 hours. It's not interesting to watch, nor intelligent or profound in any way, but it sure thinks it is.
