Well made and entertaining to the point where you want to know what happens next, but not so much that I would call it gripping. All the actors were good and it had interesting imagery and concepts scattered throughout, but all in all I didn't think it as weird/off-kilter and atmospheric as it seemed to want to be. The lack of any real mood or visceral response just brought more attention to the fact that it just seemed pointless.

I imagine knowing more about the political climate of Yugoslavia at the time and some of the history would've helped give it a little more context, but it's still a fairly mediocre film. Better than I expected, but still seems like a typical, low-budget, made-for-TV movie. The depiction of hell was quite interesting and pretty daring for the time. It was a bit bland and felt a bit 'cheap', but it's watchable.

I was expecting more of a horror film going into this, but found it was really more of a black comedy with some horror elements. We follow Warren Thompson as he goes about a regular day and he’s obviously a very lonely man and possibly a little crazy. He’s very soft-spoken and has a limp, and fits the mold of an introverted character that’s going to go off the rails at any moment. It’s somewhat cliche, but Maynard’s performance prevents…
