Zach Macias’s review:
Herzog truly is an amazing filmmaker. I love the way he presents his subjects in a nonpartisan manner and simply lets the story behind the footage speak for itself. There are moments of humor, tragedy, absurdity, and those of inexplicable beauty that just seem to flow together naturally (much credit has to go to Treadwell as well, who shot most of the footage in the film himself). The best way to describe this film is that it is a quietly observant one, of both animal as well as human nature.
