Letterboxd — Your life in film

Enjoyed this more than I thought. I did not read the book so I had no basis for comparison. Saoirse Ronan is fantastic playing the girl of two minds but the character lacks depth, not because of her acting but because of the story. Max Irons and Jake Abel play typical Meyer men that are perfect, noble and chivilrous but not realistic. It is a great movie if all you are looking for is light entertainment.

An interesting telling of a true tale. The decision to give the film the visual look of the 70s was a nice touch. It is an engaging story that actually made me angry at the US' s blatant inappropriate involvement in the government of another nation. It makes you not feel sorry for the trapped Americans. The film is worth seeing but it isn't my favourite of the best picture nominees thia year.
