  • Iron Man 3 2013

    ★★★ Watched 02 May, 2013

A disappointing addition to the Ironman franchise. The director & writer totally waste Downey Jr's mastery of the Tony Stark larger-than-life personality.

  • The Croods 2013

    ★★★½ Watched 08 May, 2013

Saw with the kids last night. It thought pretty well executed. Reminded me a little of Ice Age.

  • Django Unchained 2012

    ★★★★½ Watched 12 Jan, 2013

brilliant. Entertaining from start to finish.

  • Jack Reacher 2012

Tom Cruise's fragile ego is his worst feature & the subsequent need for him to create vehicles that pump this up at the expense of all other redeeming features usually result in humourless & soulless movies. This is one of those. Add a confusing story & no compelling characters & you get a 1 star movie.

  • The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey 2012

    ★★★½ Watched 05 Jan, 2013

Meh. Nothing to write home about. A little disappointed

  • Life of Pi 2012

    ★★★ Watched 19 Jan, 2013

Enjoyed the book much more so than the movie. Doesn't translate well.

  • Silver Linings Playbook 2012

    ★★★★ Watched 13 Jan, 2013

well done. Trailer almost put me off, but the movie delivers much more than expected. Acting & directing first class

  • Skyfall 2012

    ★★★½ Watched 04 Jan, 2013

    Polished but missing something

  • Seven Psychopaths 2012

    ★★½ Watched 13 Jan, 2013

    self indulgent crap

  • Looper 2012

    ★★★½ Watched 15 Oct, 2012

One of the better & logically-self-consistent time-travel genre movies I have seen. But no one to root for (the protagonist is a nihilistic psychopathic killer) & nothing much to ponder about when it finished. For me the ultimate measure of a movie is whether I want to see it again at some point & the answer on this one is NO.

  • Dredd 2012

    ★★★ Watched 20 Jan, 2013

    Soulless

  • Arbitrage 2012

    ★★★ Watched 10 Nov, 2012

2 plots intersect around Richard's beautiful locks of hair. A little bit drawn out, or was it that there just wasn't enough plot substance to sustain the film length. In the end I didn't really care what happened.
