Maniac 2013
An interesting and deeply psychological horror film. It tells a story of a serial killer in a point of view camera angle. While some scenes were gory Maniac was a visually beautiful film. It's a remake of a William Lustig's classic cult horror film from 1980. In the modern day version Elijah Wood delivers a convincing and touching performance as a disturbed and traumatized man. Nora Arnezeder, in the role of photographer Anna, was lovely as a fresh summer rain…

Food, Inc. 2009
This document had a very good subject. Most of the information was already know to me - like the conditions of industrial meat production - but there was also new info about business in GMO-soybeans and the company named Monsanto. That company appears to be managed by a bunch of really greedy a-holes (which must be basic requirement in the world of corporations). And it's illegal in America to criticize meat industry or question their 'values' - that's possible in…

C.H.U.D. 1984
This one is a classic! Most scenes were thrilling, some unintentionally
comical. Actors were ok if you forgive overacting. There were surprisingly well known actors in this film - like John Goodman, John Heard and Daniel Stern. Chud succeeds in where modern horror doesn't - it has an interesting idea and an diverse story which has been done in film by an enthusiastic film crew. Special FX's might be old fashioned and crude, but they were made with a good imagination. This film has more heart than most horror films nowadays.'Chud' as a term has a life of it's own - check the urbandictionary.com.

Defendor 2010
Great little film! This is one of the best films about heroism. It reminds a lot of Ghost dog (1999) and the atmosphere is also very similar with it. I don't think this film is a comedy - it would be same to say that Dark Knight is a comedy (hmmm..).
Defendor was quite serious depiction of a delusional, retarded, man who thinks that he is a super hero looking for the mystical enemy (what a beautiful allegory of the…

I Spit on Your Grave 1978
Very simple story about a woman who goes on a vengeance against men who violated her. The strength of the movie is in simplicity - there are long, quiet and peaceful scenes until the hell breaks loose. There are no extra sidelines - just the story which is very basic, but well executed.
Leading woman, Camille Keaton, is very beautiful and fragile which makes all the dramatical events seem to be even more brutal.
All and all - surprisingly good movie - regardless of the exploitation elements.

Kick-Ass 2010
This review reportedly contains spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Zeitgeist: The Movie 2007
One of the best documents ever made! It's about world of economy and the most destructive power around - the monetarism.
This movie has very interesting and actual subject matter and it has been presented in a well controlled form. Document is very to the point and everything has been explained in a layman's terms. There is a lot of footage film, graphics and statistics - not so much talking heads - and that makes the whole document very distinct and intriguing. There is also a lot of information about religions, astrology and history.

The Killer Inside Me 2010
What a waste of time! When I saw the trailer - I thought that this movie could be very interesting and full of good acting - I was dead wrong.
Casey Affleck was as interesting as a block of wood - and as charismatic. He should stick to same sh*t as his brother - being a cover-boy for girly magazines. Role of Ford could have been so much more better if there was an real actor in it like Tommy…

The Adventures of Baron Munchausen 1989
Still one of the best fantasy adventures of all time. Good, tight and imaginative storyline. Good actors. Good music. Visual FX are very good (which are all old fashioned hand made and painted - no CGI). Uma Thurman had the most memorable entrance as Aphrodite arising from the fountain in a scallop shell. youtu.be/lfwycQ5e1iY

Predators 2010
Didn't make any impression to me. I put this in the same category as Alien vs. Predator 2. Characters were unbelievable and none of them had real depth - I could not empathize with any one of them. Most obnoxious thing was the use of music - exact same music was used in the same way as in the original Predator. They should have done as in the Predator 2 - add some jungle drum in the soundtrack and -…

The Social Network 2010
Social Network is about very interesting and actual phenomenon of our time. Subject of the movie will practically sell itself to all 500 million facebook users. Movie is driven with a snappy dialogue and transitions between different hearings and flashbacks.
Trent Reznor did a awesome soundtrack for the movie - one of the most impressive tracks was the version of Grieg's "In the Hall of the Mountain King" in the rowing scene.
Film has taken some liberties when portraying Mark…

Machete 2010
Machete is a great movie done in true 80's style. Robert De Niro is awesome in his role as racist politician. Danny Trejo is a little bit awkward in most of his scenes, but I guess he was cast because of his unique look. Steven Seagal and Don Johnson were like (fresh?) breeze from the 80's - it's nice to see that those guys are still alive. All and all - I liked it A LOT! - violence, blood and guts with some comic reliefs that's what I call a good Sunday evening. :)
