Ultraviolet had everything going for it, proven action-chick Milla Jovovich, an intriguing sci-fi premise, top notch promotional materials and a promising director Kurt Wimmer fresh off cult sucess on his previous film 'Equilibrium'

And yet many people, myself included, were disappointed. Except for some stand-out set pieces, the movie lacked seamless special effects and compelling character development to make the ending pay off.

I actually fell asleep in the theater, and thus I felt I owed it another look on DVD. Ever the eternal optimist, I still pop it in from time to time hoping it will get better with time or repeated viewings — it does not.
