The Avengers - Marvel Cinematic Universe

This collection lists (in approximate movie timeline order) all the Marvel Studios films that lead up to, and spin off from, the multi-character Superhero epic 'The Avengers' aka 'Avengers Assemble'.

Marvel have gained the rights back to Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, Thor and Ant-Man. These characters were the classic line-up of The Avengers.

This list shows how the individual movies reference each other and establish that these characters all live in the same shared universe, before leading up to the crossover in 'The Avengers'...

This list works on the assumption you have seen all the MCU films up to and including Avengers: Age of Ultron, all the One-Shots up to and including All Hail The King, and the TV show Agent's of SHIELD (Series 1).
(THERE ARE THEREFORE POTENTIAL SPOILERS!).

  • The One-Shot called 'The Consultant' ties 'The Incredible Hulk' into the MCU rather well, and The Leader is featured in one of the tie-in comics. Abomination got a mention in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. I think Ant-Man features an advertisement for the same drink company that Banner works for in South America.

But yes TIH is largely ignored which is a shame. However apparently William Hurt is reprising the role so that's good.

I would love to see Abomination again though. Maybe Thanos can recruit the remaining Bad Guys as his Masters of Evil in Infinity War - Loki, Red Skull, Leader, Abomination...

  • Maybe Ross can mention Betty in Civil War? After all AoU has an obscure reference to her via the Veronica armour which Banner helped design so he obviously still has some connection to her.

But even in TIH they aren't really together, he is on the run for 5 years and then disappears again. It might be a bit odd for them to suddenly be together several years later.

  • I haven't watched anything from the MCU other than the movies and daredevil but those are some nice references.

About your master of evil idea, that would be awesome but if anyone is more unlikely to return than Betty is the Red Skull.

  • The One-Shots are worth a look, they are all short and should be online.

Since Red Skull was disappeared by the Space Stone I think he might be seen again in Infinity War - even if it's just a tiny easter egg.

  • Any idea why there weren't one shots for Thor: The Dark World or for Captain America: Winter Soldier?

  • @malars No, it just seems like they have stopped doing them now. I guess now everyone knows it's a shared universe so they don't need to add the 'connective tissue' of the One-Shots and/or they have TV and Netflix shows to explore the side stories. Still I would like to see them again even if it's just for incidental stuff - for example a Howard the Duck One-Shot would've been great on the Guardians blu-ray.

  • I'd like to see a One-Shot about Com Tech #1 and what he was up to during the entirety of Winter Soldier.

  • Is that the guy that stands up to STRIKE?

  • It's Danny Pudi... Abed from Community... could I be any more geeky?

  • Oh right I've never seen that show so the cameo was lost on me!
