Movie Vigilante’s review:
I remember anticipating this film when i heard about it being in production. Being a Jack Black fan as well as one of Tenacious D, I looked forward to their on-screen antics and humourous brand of rock.
However, the film was panned by critics and Tenacious D fans alike and it kind of curbed my enthusiasm for the film. Gradually, it faded from my mind with only a passing thought of wanting to see it.
Today, all that has changed. I've finally watched it and I have to say, I loved it!
It might be because I had lowered my expectations after the unfavourable reviews. It also helped that I am a fan of Tenacious D to begin with. If you are not a fan of their brand of music or humour, then I doubt you would enjoy it nearly as much as I did.
I was also pleasantly surprised to see Paul F. Tompkins in a small role.
I enjoyed most of the songs but I was disappointed that my favourite one, Tribute, was not included, especially since that's what the duo was leading up to before the ending credits.
This film flopped at the box office but I wouldn't be surprised if it eventually gains cult status. It is its destiny.
Rock on!
Gotta love the D!
