Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson 2008

★★★★★

While Johnny Depp's exuberant portrayal of Thompson’s literary persona Raoul Duke and Bill Murray’s superior turn in Where the Buffalo Roam are both talented performances (and I urge you to see out both), neither film gets to the centre of the enigmatic Hunter S Thompson quite like Alex Gibney's extraordinarily absorbing documentary.

Ah I see, this childhood adoration developed into grown up love/stalking? Haha. Unfortunately, it happens to so many child actors.

Richard Kiel was great too, I can't believe I'd nearly forgotten he was in this. That scene with the sledgehammer is terrific!
