The unique concept for Mike Cahill’s flawed science-fiction drama hybrid makes it a brave feature debut and while it is aesthetically beautiful, it is let down by an unoriginal narrative. Another Earth doesn’t hit the same chords that previous debut filmmakers have found in this genre (Duncan Jones’ Moon, Neill Blomkamp’s District 9 and Gareth Edwards’ Monsters), but there is enough to make Cahill a director worth keeping an eye on.
