Gladiator 2000

Lee Curtis’s review:
One of my all time favourite films won Best Picture and Best Actor, along with three other Academy Awards, in 2000, and yet Ridley Scott has never been rewarded with Best Director. If the Academy are to be believed then everything in this film just miraculously happened. However under Scott's direction this masterpiece is one the most compelling pieces of cinema and certainly his greatest achievement. It would be an absolute tragedy if this legendary director never receives the Oscar he deserves.
It may be for lifetime achievement and not a specific, future film, but the Academy will recognize Scott at some point. They have to.
I agree; with you both!
I've said it before and I'll say it again; The Academy can get fucked.
