[REC]² 2010

Lee Curtis’s review:
Following off from its glorious predecessor REC 2 may fail in comparison, but it continues a fine horror series. The film seamlessly balances a multi-perspective, non-linear narrative which strengthens the found footage format. While it clings a little too closely to the religion for my taste, it is a thoroughly engaging and frightening film.
I preferred this one. Know I'm in the minority there but I just found more to love about it. The 3rd one dropped through my door yesterday. It looks utterly demented.
I can see why, I really enjoyed it. Really need to see the third as soon as possible. Did you see the silly American remake, Quarantine?
No, didn't bother with that and probably won't.
That's for the best.
I really need to get around to watching this series!
Can't recommend it enough, though I often face criticism for opinions of horror, largely due to my fondness of the Saw franchise.
Nothing wrong with enjoying Saw, it's well-written for the most part (with a couple exceptions). I preferred REC 2 to REC, but I agree, both are fantastic. I wasn't big on REC 3 myself, though.
And yes, Quarantine is to be avoided.
Rec 1 & 2 would be great as a double-feature (not seen 3 yet).
I didn't mind Quaratine.
The first Saw is a great film but they get worse (only seen up up to 4 I think..). Need to see them all back-to-back really.
@Jeremy good to hear. I think they're very well constructed, they found a formula that works, very well, and stuck to it. Thanks.
@mook I disagree that the Saw films get worse, I think they just avoid doing anything to increase on the previous films. I think that's the problem for a lot of critics, but if you take each film as it comes, they're thoroughly enjoyable. I'd recommend watching them all.
