Don’t forget to select your favorite films!
One of the best post apocalyptic films ever made. An example of how we can still make a great futuristic film without the overuse of computer generated graphics, but instead using actual sets and wardrobes. Children of Men also has hands-down my favorite tracking shot of all time. It inspires hope, but not without knowing the sacrifices required to attain it.
Brutally honest depiction of how a relationship can fall apart without either partner realizing it. Not an easy watch, but a perfect example of how a film transcending the normal perception we give to a run of the mill drama. One of only a handful of films that had me running through the events and interactions that took place trying to come to peace with the ending and overall intention weeks after watching.
Equal parts comedy, romance, and cartooned action make this one hell of a good example of how a film can blend multiple genres into one delightfully entertaining ride. Each time I rewatch Scott Pilgrim, I pick up on another witty line that I missed before. The characters feel fresh and fully realized with each whispered line or awkward sigh.
For some it's more than a film, it's a way of life. I look to The Dude for advice about every aspect of life, and it always delivers. Whether you're looking for career advice, relationship consoling, or why the ringer should never look empty, it's all wrapped up into this neat little package about how getting your rug micturated upon fits into the flow of life. In the end though, it's your roll.
