A loud, noisy, and unnecessary film. For whatever points this one gains from the first film stylistically it loses in charm and grace. Nicholas Cage is way off the deep end which I don't dislike but no one else in the movie was given the notes to play their parts at 11.
I did enjoy Idris Alba and there were some interesting ideas about what The Rider is but they are explored very well. Some of the special effects are truly awful as well which does not help. For a 60 million dollar budget there was a lot to be desired.
As empty as these first two films have been I'd still like to see a hard R version of this character that is a true attempt at a horror flick.
