Very mixed on this film, it seems there is something missing like a sense of fun or charm. As far as the cast goes, thought Brandon Routh was fine as Clark/Superman, Kate Bosworth playing Lois Lane doesn't make much of an impression, and Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor surprisingly isn't very memorable. The advancement in green screen technology and special effects result in some pretty cool Superman-in-action flying scenes. The production design of the film as a whole is impressive. The movie fails in the dramatic aspects of the script since it's not very involving or effective.

Obviously the much lower budget results in many "not so special" effects. It's also a visually ugly film. Most of the performances are good, but the dialogue they are forced to speak is often eye-rollingly bad and not amusing as intended.

Have not seen this since it was originally in the theaters and I like it now even more. Best part about it is how Pacino & William's characters keep one-upping each other trying to get dominant control of the situation. The acting, cinematography, and score are superb.

The last 20 minutes is still an effective grueling experience. Love the soundtrack and the use of sound in general in the movie. Any film which makes a refrigerator truly frightening is ace in my book.
