  • The Great Gatsby 2013

    ★★½ Watched 18 May, 2013

A modern twist of one of the great literary works of any generation that sadly lacks the style or wonder that the title character of the book possesses.

The plus points for me was the performance and narration of Tobey Maguire; I felt he was on good form and produced a better performance than so many of the others in the cast. The modern music I helped create a Gatsby for 2013; having older music somehow would feel out of…

  • Fast & Furious 6 2013

    ★★★½ Watched 18 May, 2013

The sixth installment of a franchise which after Tokyo Drift I doubt anyone saw a future in.

This film follows the standard template of having great cars, great races and action aplenty. There's nothing really new here that we haven't seen before and some of the plot is more than a little predictable. However, it's still an entertaining film that is a decent addition to the series.

Just 2 things - don't see the trailer before seeing the film as will give the game away. And why have the films out of running order???

Driven by a stand out performance from Christian Bale and a great soundtrack (especially Phil Collins' Sussudio) this film is a shocking look at a Wall Street executive's darker side.

Now while the film is undoubately violent and has some gruesome moments. What stuck with me the most was the thought that due to the pressures these Wall Street types work under, could there really be people like Patrick Bateman out there???
