This films visuals are stunning and it has the emotional punch to back it up.

  • World on a Wire 1973

    ★★★½ Watched 05 May, 2013

The 3:30 minute film split into two parts for TV has moments of genius but could have easily been chopped by about an hour. The good thing about the film is that visually there is never a wasted frame. Every single shot is interesting to look at. If you're interesting in making films this could be a great lesson on shot setups.

Terrence Malick could take a dump and then film it floating down the toilet, it would be the most beautiful film of the year.

  • Berberian Sound Studio 2012

    ★★★★ Watched 12 Jan, 2013

It's like David Lynch directed a film about someone getting hired as Dario Argento's sound editor. In other words, it's an absolute must see for all cinefiles.

Side note: This film is in English and Italian. I first watched it with no subtitles and then re-watched it with English subs for the Italian parts. I liked it both ways.
